Clothing is there to support you and your mission,
not the other way around. If your suit, dress,
tie, scarf, or other item attracts too much of
the viewer's attention, they have shifted their
focus from listening to you, instead to what you
are wearing. Your goal is for people to take notice
of who you are, not of your great red suit or
bright Versace tie.

You owe it to yourself to show up with dignity
and self respect, looking your best no matter
what the circumstances! Keeping or wearing stained
clothing reflects a lack of this important attitude.
The people around us notice far more than we think.
Remove these flawed items from your collection!

Why have you not worn it? Can it be revived with
the right accessories or coordinating pieces?
Is it hopelessly out of style, never going to
fit again, or just a purchasing mistake?

Looking outdated or having your wardrobe reflect
a different era may be stylish for some, but most
of the business and academic worlds follow a strict
dress code. Know what those codes are and follow
them! Remember: It's a closet, not a museum!

Black is not a color. On the contrary, black is
the absence of all color. Most people are beings
of color. It is incumbent upon us to reflect our
colors in the way we dress. Black is a barrier,
not a safety net. It transmits a message of being
unapproachable and intimidating. |

Keep the main staples in your wardrobe updated
by adding a new suit or dress at least once a
year. New accessories, such as scarves, ties,
great blouses, or quality sweaters / jackets keep
your wardrobe looking interesting and alive!
